How to set up Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator Setup Guide
For iOS 18 & Android 14
(Step-by-step installation & configuration of your Microsoft account)
Part 1: iPhone (iOS 18)
Step 1: Install the Microsoft Authenticator App
Open the App Store.
Tap Search, type Microsoft Authenticator, and find the official app by Microsoft.
Tap Get → Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
Wait for the app to install.
Step 2: Open the App & Grant Permissions
Launch Microsoft Authenticator.
Tap Continue through the welcome screens.

When prompted, allow:
Step 3: Add Your Microsoft Account
Sign in Directly
Tap Add account > Choose Work or school account.
Tap Sign in.
Enter your Microsoft email and password.
Complete any identity verification steps
Step 4: Verify the Account Works
Once added, Microsoft may prompt you to approve a sign-in or enter a verification code from the app.
Respond to the prompt or enter the code shown in the app to confirm the setup.
Step 5: Enable App Lock (Recommended)
In the Authenticator app, tap ☰ Menu > Settings.
Turn on App Lock.
iOS 18 will now use Face ID or device passcode to protect the app.
You're Done on iOS!
Test by signing out and back into your Microsoft account — the app should prompt you to approve.
Part 2: Android 14
Step 1: Install the Microsoft Authenticator App
Open the Google Play Store.
Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
Tap Install.
Wait for the app to finish downloading.
Step 2: Open the App & Grant Permissions
Open the app.
Tap Skip or Next through the introduction screens.

Allow these permissions when prompted:
Step 3: Add Your Microsoft Account
Method A: Sign in Directly
Tap Add account → Choose Personal or Work or school.
Tap Sign in.
Enter your Microsoft credentials (email + password).
Complete any security verification (email, SMS, etc.).
Step 4: Confirm the Setup

You may be asked to:
Complete the prompt to activate 2FA.
Step 5: Enable App Lock (Recommended)
Tap ☰ Menu > Settings.
Toggle App Lock to ON.
Android 14 will now use your biometric unlock (fingerprint or face) or device PIN to protect the app.
